Florida and Virginia Egg Donors- Qualifications

Thank you for your interest in our Florida and Virginia donor egg programs. Egg donation is an opportunity to help an otherwise infertile couple have the child of their dreams. The vast majority of egg donors donate for a strong desire to help others have a family, but compensation is provided to offset inconvenience and expenses.

Egg donors undergo ovulation induction with FSH to recruit multiple eggs which are then retrieved and used in the IVF cycle with the husband’s sperm. The resultant child has the genetic makeup of the father and egg donor. There are basically two types of egg donors; known and unknown. Known donors are usually family friends or relatives that want to help the couple. The identities of “unknown” egg donors will not be provided beyond general physical characteristics and educational background. Everything is completely anonymous and confidential. In no case will the name of the donor be divulged.

Basic egg Donor requirements include:

*age 18-30
*weight appropriate for height/ BMI >21 or <30
*non smokers
*no recent history of depo provera, or Norplant
*no history of recreational drug use
*no body piercings or tattoos within the last year
*be free of certain genetic defects and medical conditions.

If you are selected by a couple from our anonymous donor book, we would then contact you to see if you are still available and interested. It can sometimes take several months to be chosen for egg donation. We generally ask for childhood photos to share with the recipient. In addition to a few childhood photos, we request at least 1 adult photo for our viewing only. This sometimes helps us when aiding a patient in matching with a donor. The adult photo is not shared without your permission.

About the donation process:

You will take medication injections for roughly 10 days to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. While you are taking the medications, you will be required to come to several appointments (approx: 3-5) at our office to monitor your egg growth and hormone levels. Once you are ready, your eggs are retrieved with a thin needle guided by ultrasound. You are under anesthesia during the procedure so you will not be awake or feel anything. You will be able to go home shortly after the procedure and will need someone to drive you. You are compensated a total of $3,000.00 on the day of the egg aspiration for your donation, time and travel.
